Skirt looks like a triangle

I ordered a small, my regular size. Top fits perfectly but the skirt is extremely A-line. It sticks out so much on the sides it looks like a triangle. I guess that's why the model has her hands at her sides to hide it. I wish they would just show how it really fits because I wouldn't have bought the dress if I knew. Now I have to pay to return it. Would have been perfect if the skirt was straighter.

I'm usually a medium in GAP dresses, and I ordered the medium and medium tall sizes; while the body fit, the bust was too tight (tighter in the regular size) ! Disappointed because the linen version of this dress fit beautifully. #sweepstakes
