I'm a size small/6 and sometimes medium/8 for gap factory and old navy. I tried these shorts in a small but the waist was about 1 inch too wide and the legs too baggy. I reordered in x-small and they fit perfectly. Not too tight in the waist or legs and the length is down to my fingertips. Highly re...commend these shorts, they are very comfortable and versatile without being too heavy like denim usually is.
Bought two pairs of these cute, supersoft utility shorts—one pair in the Dark Wash and the other in Neon Pink Rose. (I'm a Gap size 31 in jeans, so I purchased Large.) For both, I love the softness and drape of the denim, the zip front, the overall length and coverage, and I especially LOVE, LOVE, L...OVE the deep front pockets! This style is very loose, so I would also recommend sizing down if you want a more tailored look. However, I can only give a THREE-STAR review because, after ONE LAUNDERING, the denim of my hot pink pair was shredding at different points around each back pocket (which thankfully did not happen with my Dark Wash pair). I understand that this is GAP PACTORY, but this isn't a seam unravelling, this is different spots of the denim itself, not the actual pockets, ripping apart (as in, HELLO underpants?!). Not good. So one pair FIVE-STAR, the other ONE-STAR. Bummer.

I'm 5'4, weigh around 155-160, and size medium fits well. They're so comfortable and stylish. I hate tight shorts, especially jean shorts. I love them so much that I purchased 3 pairs in both light washes and gray. I have fuller thighs and they're roomy in the legs, but not ridiculously big.

These fit in the waist but the thigh openings were huge. Like it looked like these shorts had wings. Not all of us have ginormous thighs. Doesn't look anything like on the model.

Comfy fit. Really like these. Great length. Runs on the generous side. As a size 8, I often buy Large in shorts because I don't like them tight but the medium was plenty roomy. Even put them in the dryer and they fit perfectly.
