The pleats on these harken back to the 80s. Love the classic style and they fit well. Gap's sizing chart is not accurate here, or for anything I've bought from them. I'm 5'6", 150lbs. According to the size chart I'm a 12 or a Large. Bought the Small, but Medium would have worked too. I have a tiny p...ostpartum belly which makes pants tighter in the waist. The small is slightly tight in the waist but fitted in the hips. I don't think it would be tight if you have a slim waist. For me, I like a fitted look in the hips and the small is perfect, other than I'd pair with a belt to reduce pulling on the button. A size medium would be a more casual fit and probably the size I'd recommend for most people.
These run super large. I bought a Large at a size 12 with weight in my hips/thighs/but, and loved the way they draped and the orange rust color. But they seemed a bit big, so I washed and dried to see how much they might shrink (not much). I wore them to work for the first time this week and by the ...end of the day I was using paperclips and binder clips to cinch the sides just to try to keep them up! I should've gotten a Medium, as they run large like Athleta's linen pants. Love the fit, though, first barrel style I've ever purchased. Would prefer them to be shorter -- I folded them up once and loved that length, but they don't stay folded. Might tack them in place and try to dry on high heat to get them to shrink more.

These are so close to being great, but they are too big in the waist, which makes them ride too low and fit poorly in the crotch. I wish they would have come in numeric sizes -- S, M, L does not cut it for pants! I am usually an 8 or 10 in pants, with hips bigger than waist. I can't imagine going down to a small.

These pants fit very well - slightly large so I'd suggest sizing down. Perfect length for petites. I'm 4'11" and I could wear them with flat Birks and a casual T or dress them up with heels and a nicer top. Very versatile. Great for traveling too - they don't wrinkle. I washed them before wearing - came out of the dryer perfect and 24 hours in my suitcase, they were still wrinkle free. The fabric breathes and was perfect during this hot summer. I was nervous about "Linen Blend" - I've always prefered natural fabrics, especially now that I have fibromyalgia - but these are nice and soft against your skin.
