I've been wearing both barrel and balloon pants for the past five years. I love them! When I saw these at Gap, I immediately ordered the off-white stripe. I am 5' 4" and 104 pounds, and curvy. I ordered two pairs to see which would fit best: Petite 0 and Petite 2. At first, the zero was tight on m...y booty and down the inseam, which fit quite short. (Although, I do have longer legs.) The size P 2 initially fit better and longer (!), but as both have stretched out, I find myself picking the size 0 over the size 2. Coming back to purchase more in either the green or the neutral, but will try a regular size rather than petite. I usually pair them with chunky brown tennis shoes and a brown, camel, or gray sweater, am I'm complimented every time I wear them. They are incredibly comfortable, definitely casual, and quickly becoming my favorite pants -- highly recommend. PS: I gave them four stars instead of five because the crotch pulls sometimes. But honestly, that could be attributed to my round booty. If you aren't quite as curvy as me, it might not be a problem at all.
These were cute before I tried washing them (cold wash, low heat dry) but came out totally mis-shapen. Its as if the thread shrank a bit, but the fabric didn't (?). I had bought a more expensive pair in this style at Banana Republic, but that fabric was a thicker khaki or twill. This material is ...crispy and wrinkly when washed and the hems and seams tend to pucker up. I tried ironing, but hard to iron these and results weren't great. Looked like balloons on my legs, dipping up at the inside seam. I trust the Banana pair will wash better, and while it's not possible to return these now that they are washed, my hope is to spare someone else this daunting experience!

Better than I expected. The closure system is smart and secure. The pants themselves are a bit of unique fun but well-made so there are no wardrobe regrets. It can turn boring solid color tops into a great contrast piece for the pants.

Cute, but the barrel wasn't barrel-ing enough for me, so I returned. I am a curvy girl and the barrel usually flatters my figure when it's a true barrel shape, but these fit more like a straight leg and didn't do much for me. They also ran short, so I'd need a long length as well. I'm only 5'6" for reference.
