I'm 5'8, 140lbs, straight figured with smaller hips and larger waist and long 34" inseam legs. I read the reviews, but decided to go with my usually sz 28/6 in gap jeans. I don't like my Jean shorts to be tight at all. These definitely ran larger, but I think it's more because they feel like lower r...ise. Some of the reviews read more like these were higher rise, but not on me. The highest I could pull them up was just to the bottom of my belly button. They def sat lower on my hips. If you want them to fit loose and lower on hips, maybe get your regular size. If you want them to fit more at your waist like regular jeans, size down. I think they also run straighter though too, so if you're curvy, I have no idea on how these would fit you.
I like these shorts, but they run really big. I am normally a size 4 in almost all my bottoms but I could fit both arms in the waist of the 4s. I returned for a size 2 and I don't think they were any smaller. I now have to try a size 0 but because I can't just do a simple exchange through the GAP o...nline I have to return and reorder- and they will be more expensive than when I initially purchased. So they are very inconsistency sized and the GAP makes it difficult to do exchanges-hence the 3 stars. I otherwise like the feel of the denim and the cut which is the only reason I didn't just do a flat return to start with.

I bought these with the intent to cut them off right at the hem for a more casual look, but I love them so much that I'm probably going to keep them as is. I would say that these run large in the best way - they are so comfortable and have a ton of stretch, so I probably could have gone down a size for a tighter fit. I would buy the blue also but they are a different fabric and won't be the same. These are such a great length and rise!

i just bought these shorts in the color "dark wash". i wear a 23 in Aritzia jeans, so i was skeptical on how big these shorts would be. it is a little bit big, falling about two inches below my belly button, but the five inch length is very flattering! i wish GAP would make their bottoms in a size 23! nevertheless, it is comfortable and the gape of it on my waist is not too concerning. the color is beautiful, and i can see myself wearing it with or without a belt. for reference, i am 5'4 and three quarters, and weigh 102 pounds.
